Tax Fairness Problems and Solutions

American tax fairness

Americans tend to want things such as Medicare and a strong military, but they are always unwilling to pay the proper amount of taxes to support these things.

The truth is that if you want to have these things you have to be willing to pay for them. Americans, especially the top 1%, are currently paying extremely low personal income tax rates as compared to the historical income tax rates in America.

Republicans, who are so against raising anyones taxes are constantly praising the Presidency of Ronald Reagan; even though Ronald Reagan had in place a top marginal tax rate of at least 50% or higher during 6 of his 8 years in office. That was much higher than the top marginal tax rate of 39.6% enacted by Congress and President Barack Obama in 2013.

So it is time for all Americans to decide if we actually want to pay for things, or simply get rid of them.

Solution: The only time America has had a budget surplus since 1980 was when President Clinton was in office. Therefore, we should at the very least use the tax rates and income levels that were used during the Clinton Administration.
